When spectators arrive at the World Floorball Championships, the court is ready, the merchandise stands are waiting for customers, and the venues look exactly as they should.
But how does everything end up in the right place at the right time?
That’s where Ville Hyvönen comes in.
Ville is a 24-year-old sports enthusiast from Pirkkala, Finland.
He studies Sports Coaching and Management at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, specialising in sports management and development. And when he’s not studying or working, he certainly isn’t sitting still. CrossFit, HYROX, floorball and running all feature on his list of favourite activities.
As an intern with the World Floorball Championships organisation, Ville is part of the venue build-up and dismantling team. His responsibilities include coordinating construction and logistics schedules, as well as material flows, across Hakametsä Ice Hall, Kauppi Sports Center and Nokia Arena.
He has also helped plan the layouts for expo areas, partner stands, merchandise shops and coffee stations at the venues.
During the tournament, Ville will oversee incoming deliveries and make sure everything reaches its intended destination. And when extra hands are needed, you’ll find him helping to build or dismantle the floorball courts.
So, if something needs to get from point A to point B at the Championships, chances are Ville knows a thing or two about it.
A front-row seat to the action behind the scenes
Ville joined the World Championships project in March 2026. For a future sports professional, the opportunity to experience the making of an international sporting event from the inside is exactly what he was hoping for.
What excites him most is the responsibility. His work has a real impact on how smoothly an event of this scale runs.
For Ville, a successful matchday isn’t just about what happens on the court.
It’s about making sure the entire event runs safely and smoothly, creating a great experience for everyone involved: teams, volunteers, spectators, partners and event staff alike.
Floorball runs in Ville’s veins
Ville’s floorball journey began at around nine years old, playing for Ylöjärven Pallo. These days, he still takes to the court with SB-Teho in the Kaukajärvi Spiral League.
What keeps him coming back? The emotions, the competition, the teamwork and the thrill of achieving something together.
That same spirit is at the heart of what Free of Limits means to Ville.
Floorball is for everyone, regardless of background. There’s a place and a role for each of us.
And the World Championships are no different.
Some build the court. Some play on it. Others bring the noise from the stands.
Every single one matters.
What is Ville looking forward to in December?
An incredible celebration of sport, an electric atmosphere and, of course, Finland becoming world champions!
For Ville, nothing beats experiencing sport live. There’s something special about sharing the excitement, the emotions and the sense of togetherness with thousands of fans. It’s a feeling that simply can’t be replicated through a screen.
“Let’s make these the best World Floorball Championships ever – together!”
Now that’s a goal worth working towards, both on and off the court.
Thank you, Ville, for being part of the team!
